Brockton dedicated Monday’s Council meeting to the people of Greenock Scotland.
Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato was proudly sporting a new look last night — he was wearing a blue and white striped Greenock Morton signed soccer jersey.
The jersey was a gift from Scottish Member of Parliament Stuart McMillian of West Scotland.
Bagnato says the jersey along with a Greenock Scotland calendar was a gift to Brockton for its assistance to McMillian.
Over the last year Bagnato has been corresponding with the Scottish M-P, who is on a mission to link up Canadian and Scottish communities that share the same Scottish heritage and name such as Greenock.
Bagnato plans to return the favour and send McMillan a signed Walkerton Hawks jersey.
McMillian — who has visited Brockton’s Greenock — has extended an invitation to Bagnato to visit the Scottish Greenock.
Bagnato says that’s just not in the cards right now — instead he says their friendly correspondence will have to do.
