Be prepared for the first major winter storm of the year this week.
That from our weather specialist John Wilson.
Wilson says a storm – with heavy lake effect flurries – will start Wednesday and last through Thursday.
Although the amount of snow is undetermined, Wilson says blowing snow and squalls will hit our area resulting in poor visibility and drifting snow.
He says there’s a strong system developing over the Colorado Rockies that is moving towards the Great Lakes and deepening as it comes.
As the system deepens, Wilson says it will really get cranked up with wind.
He says the front end of the system is mild with a rain and snow mix, but on the back end – expect some really strong winds over the great lakes – which will bring a heavy dumping of lake effect snow.
Wilson says it will still be windy and cool on Friday but the storm should do most of its damage Wednesday and Thursday.
