Bayshore Broadcasting News confirmed the rumours with officials at the company’s head office in Texas.
About 100 staff who work at the Hanover factory were notified yesterday that they would not have a job in the new year.
Dickies — famous for its work clothing — cites a downfall in orders because of the economic recession.
Dickies Canada purchased the existing factory in Hanover in 1956.
This closure follows hundreds of layoffs of employees at Interforest in Durham, Durham Furniture and Hanover Kitchens, all in recent years.
