Local soccer teams will be able to use the new field at a Collingwood private school once it’s fixed up.
Council has approved an agreement with Pretty River Academy to allow the town to be the booking agent for the field after school hours.
A by-law to start the agreement passed on Monday by a voted of 7 to 2.
Councillor Mike Edwards was one of the two to vote against it.
He says he just doesn’t think the responsibility of booking agent should rest on the town, it should be with the school.
Edwards adds he doesn’t think the town should be using its resources on a private facility.
The Pretty River Academy’s soccer field has been the centre of controversy since the federal and provincial governments granted the private school half a million dollars to fix up the field.
