It’s a big day here in the city of Owen Sound, with an even bigger day only 4 weeks away.
Today, the Owen Sound based Olympic Torch Relay Committee wants to ” Paint The Town Red “.
So, if you’re not already dressed, get something red.
And if you are dressed, and it’s not red, take a second to go back and find a red item to show your support and spirit for today’s activities and those on the horizon.
First today, whether you’re in red or otherwise, make plans to take an hour and join the fun.
There is a citizens parade along 2nd Avenue East.
To participate in this community parade, simply be at Carney’s Lane before noon and get in line.
Then at 12:15 this afternoon, the parade will march to Owen Sound City Hall where a short ceremony will be conducted around 12:30 pm.
The highlight of the ceremony will be the official announcement of who gets to represent the city and region by lighting the Olympic Torch cauldron when the Torch Relay hits Owen Sound in 4 weeks time on Monday December 28th.
Big time event, or small city fun, regardless how you view it, please support the parade and all the surrounding activities.
See you at noon at Carney’s Lane.
I’m Fred Wallace
