The Owen Sound organizing committee of the Olympic Torch Relay is encouraging citizens from the city and region to “Paint The Town Red” tomorrow.
Everyone is encouraged to wear “red” on Monday as a show of support and spirit for the Olympic Torch which will be passing through Owen Sound on the night of December 28th.
Monday’s event — which is 4 weeks in advance of the arrival of the Olympic Torch — is designed to heighten awareness of the event and also officially name the lighter of the cauldron on the night of the 28th.
The events on Monday begin at Noon where citizens will gather in Carney’s Lane.
At 12:15 PM — the citizens parade will begin along 2nd Avenue East and arrive at Owen Sound City Hall 15 minutes later.
As part of the ceremony at City Hall, the official announcement of who will light the torch cauldron on behalf of Owen Sound on December 28th will be made.
