Dundalk residents will all soon be on water meters.
Southgate CAO Dave Milliner says by early in December, about half of the homes in the village will have meters installed and they hope to have everyone hooked up by the new year.
There are some 750 water customers in Dundalk.
Milliner says the new metered water system will not kick in immediately.
He says they will monitor use for about four months, and then send out sample bills comparing the flat rate now — with what customers would pay under the new metered system.
The CAO says some customers will pay more, others less.
Currently, homeowners pay 56 dollars a month for water and sewers in Dundalk.
Milliner says the water meters aim to cut down on water use by showing homeowners exactly what it is costing them.
