It’s Grey Cup Weekend in the Canadian Football League and could there be a better location for the CFL Championship than Calgary ?
Well, I guess it could be better if the Stampeders were in the game.
Be that as it may, the Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders will meet in the Championship Game Sunday night.
Amazingly, in the lengthy history of the Canadian Football League, with in all honesty, a very short roster of teams, the Alouettes and the Riders have never played each other for the title.
Montreal comes in as the favorite having demolished B.C. in the semifinal after cruising to the Eastern Conference title.
And therein lies the mystery.
Are the Montreal Alouettes that good, or by virtue of playing in the East, having a playoff bye and then coasting over the Lions, are they battle ready for a one game, winner take all match.
Saskatchewan’s lone advantage could be that the game is in Calgary, the home of many transplanted Westerners who have skipped one province west.
Plus, knowing the Rider faithful, you’ve got to believe the majority of the crowd will be pulling for the Green Riders.
Should be a good matchup.
We’ll see you Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall for the Bayshore Broadcasting-Boston Pizza Grey Cup Party
