The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board is gearing up for full day kindergarten.
It’s in the process of finalizing its list of preferred sites for the new program.
This list will be submitted to the Ministry of Education on November 30th.
Once this list has been submitted the Catholic Board will announce their tentative sites.
Many parents have been anxiously awaiting word on whether or not their child’s school will offer the full day kindergarten program.
The final approval from the province won’t come until January.
In the meantime — the Catholic Board has been meeting weekly with daycare partners to discuss what ramifications the program will have on their service.
Because the School Boards are not allowed to assume any capital costs in this matter — the full day kindergarten program will only be established on sites were space exists.
Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil calls it a very exciting initiative.
She feels when kids are supported by all day quality learning, the entire family benefits.
