The Grey Bruce Health Unit is giving notice to some residents in Elderslie and Brant Townships that their well drinking water may have higher than normal sodium levels.
Lou DAlessandro — the Manager of Health Protection — says they’ve been informed that water samples taken from monitoring wells in Elderslie Township (Lot 7, Con. 8) and Brant Township, (Lot 1, Con. 1) show levels of sodium just slightly above acceptable limits.
Homeowners near these monitoring wells, who use private water wells for drinking water purposes, are encouraged to have their wells tested for sodium.
Elevated levels of sodium in their drinking water may affect individuals with hypertension.
These individuals may want to contact their health care provider for advice.
