Ontarios Lieutenant Governor has promised to return to Owen Sound in two years to officially open the new regional recreation complex.
David Onley was in town over the weekend for the sod turning ceremony for the 37 million dollar facility.
Onley — who battled polio as a child and has limited use of his limbs — praises the proposed rec centre for its commitment to accessibility.
Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound’s MP and M-P-P were also on hand for the ceremony
Other guests included Gayle Graham, chief executive officer of the Owen Sound Family Y, which is the citys partner in the project, Mayor Alan Barfoot of Georgian Bluffs, which is making a financial commitment toward the complex, and Grey County Warden Kevin Eccles.
