An inquest opens today into the death of an Owen Sound man who was working in Collingwood in May of 2004.
59 year old Donald Buckton drowned in Collingwood harbour.
OPP say Buckton fell into the harbour while collecting water in a tanker truck for a construction firm.
Inquests are mandatory when someone dies on the job.
Two separate charges were filed against Miller Paving in connection with the death.
However, both charges, failure to maintain equipment and failure to provide protective devices were withdrawn in a Barrie court in January of this year.
Three days have been set aside for the inquest that will explore issues of safety at construction sites.
It opens at 9:30 AM today and is being held in the Collingwood council chambers.
Doctor Peter Savage is the presiding inquest coroner.
