Hanover has just renewed two important contracts.
The town has signed a new three year agreement with both its garbage and recycling collectors.
The new three year contract with Bruce Service Sales and Rentals comes at no increase.
The recycling contract with Waste Management of Canada Corporation comes with a two per cent increase each year over the three year period.
Councillor Bob White is pleased with both contracts.
He notes it’s rare to be able to renew a garbage contract at no increase.
As for the 2 per cent a year hike for the recycling contract, White says Hanover can live with it.
He notes there isn’t much competition in this area for garbage and recycling contracts.
Both contractors currently serve Hanover — so the garbage and recycling collection schedules will be remain the same.
The new contracts will come into effect January 1st.
Hanover currently pays a monthly garbage contract price of 44 hundred dollars plus GST which will remain unchanged.
The current recycling contract price is almost 13 thousand dollars a month plus GST.
