There will be a second Dancing for Life in Owen Sound.
The Ann Milne School of Dance announced Thursday on the front steps of City Hall that it will bring back the show on June 18th and 19th, 2010 at the OSCVI auditorium.
The inaugural show last June raised over 30 thousand dollars for the Neo Natal Unit at the Owen Sound hospital.
Ann Milne Wynn is the brainchild behind Dancing for Life.
She says it wasn’t a difficult decision to hold it again because of the success they had last year, the friendships they made and the fact they helped the community.
Four local charities will share the proceeds this year.
The Children’s Aid Society of Grey Owen Sound, the Alzheimer Society, Community Living Owen Sound and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Milne Wynn says she has worked with the groups and they are struggling to raise money because of the economic downturn.
She says they not only hope to help those charities but also educate people about their work in the community.
Milne Wynn says they have not set a goal — but they are looking for local businesses to become sponsors of Dancing for Life.
The campaign got a kickstart with a five thousand dollar donation from Jeff Robbins and Mane Street Hair Salon.
So now the call is out for eight celebrity dancers — four men and four women — and you can nominate someone to dance next week.
From next Monday to Friday — you can send an email to dancingforlife2@hotmail.com or find the link on www.mix106.ca.
Milne Wynn says she is getting a lot of feedback already about possible dancers.
They plan on making an announcement about the eight celebrity dancers at the beginning of December.
