Bruce County Councillors are belt-tightening when it comes to pay raises.
Councillor Mitch Twolan says a recommendation suggesting a three percent increase for non-unionized staff generated debate.
He says council’s offer is one percent instead.
Twolan says the current economic climate is the main reason council said no to the three percent increase, but notes negotiations are still in progress.
