Arran-Elderslie Council is trying to decide what to do next about the Paisley Inn.
Mayor Ron Oswald says a case to decide if owner Burke Maidlow should be allowed to restore the building or if the municipality should order it torn down was dismissed in Owen Sound court last week.
The Mayor says council met with its lawyer in a closed session on Monday, and while he cannot discuss what was said, he notes they want to bring closure to the situation.
Oswald says it would be great if they could work something out with the owner, if he has the finances to renovate the old building.
If not, Oswald says things aren’t getting any better with the condition of the inn, winter is coming, and council is concerned about liability if someone gets hurt.
