Reality TV is coming to Saugeen Shores!
HGTV is looking for three different families to decorate their home for the holidays and compete against one another in a holiday special called “Holiday Battle on the Block”.
Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce General Manager Joanne Robbins through the show – three families get to pull out all the stops when it comes to decorating the outside of their home for the holidays.
They are put to the challenge by the HGTV hosts, Kim Myles and Steve McGillivray, to compete in a friendly festive decoration face-off.
Robbins says each of the three families will be given a “healthy budget” to take part and have to create something from scratch within 48 hours. (keeping only their lights and controllers from previous years as a starting point)
At stake are the bragging rights and the honour of being awarded the title
of Best Holiday House in front of the entire municipality and on TV.
Two episodes will be shot in Ontario and two in the US.
Robbins says Saugeen Shores has been chosen, because one of the producers on the show vacations here, and loves the area.
On “reveal” day — the show’s hosts and a panel of judges from Saugeen Shores will choose a winner based on beauty, originality and execution.

Robbins says shooting for the show begins at the end of this month and each episode shoots for four days.
Robbins wants to submit all names who want to take part – to HGTV by Monday – who will choose the three families to take part.
