In a time when more and more people are communicating on facebook, twitter and email — the MP for Simcoe Grey is going old-school, in a big way.
Helena Guergis has the dubious distinction of being the second-highest spending MP in the country when it comes to printing.
Last year, parliamentary records quoted in the Barrie Examiner show Guergis spent 86-thousand tax dollars on flyers and other paper communication.
Guergis’ printing costs have gone up each year.
Guergis is second only to Tory MP Rick Norlock of Northumberland Quinte-West when it comes to spending on the flyers — also known as ten-percenters, since each individual mailing is allowed to be sent to 10 percent of constituents.
