Bruce Power is energizing fundraising for the new Rotary Accessible Playground in Saugeen Shores.
Town Community Services Director Mike Myatt says they’re thrilled with the 75 thousand dollar donation and it brings them closer to their fundraising goal of 250 thousand dollars.
He appreciates the generosity of Bruce Power CEO Duncan Hawthorne and the company’s employees.
Myatt says the donation means extra items — possibly a sensory garden, could be added to the facility at Jubilee Park.
He says that will be up for discussion when 2010 municipal budget talks start in December.
Myatt says Bruce Power’s donation won’t change the naming rights the Rotary Clubs of Port Elgin and Southampton earned for the playground when they announced at 50 thousand dollar donation on October 19th.
Myatt says Bruce Power was aware of Rotary’s contribution and wanted to be involved in the project, but not have naming rights.
A formal cheque presentation of Bruce Power’s donation will take place this evening at the CAW Family Education Centre during the Spirit of Giving Dinner for Easter Seals.
