The Canadian Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser, Relay For Life, is over in Grey Bruce for 2009.
In the Bluewater Unit, seven events were held in Cape Croker, the Town of Blue Mountains, Kincardine, Mildmay, Owen Sound, Hanover plus a brand new event in Saugeen Shores.
In total — just under 600 thousand dollars was raised in the area by just over 2 thousand people who took part in the “Relay For life” events.
Cape Croker residents helped to raise nearly 55 thousand dollars in Late June…
In Saugeen Shores, the 576 participants raised 175 thousand dollars…
153 participants at the Relay For Life in Town of Blue Mountains in July brought in nearly 44 thousand dollars.
The event in Kincardine saw some 300 participants walk for the next 12 hours, raising $95,242.32.
Rain did not dampen the spirits of over 230 participants in Mildmay in late August where they raised 58,500 dollars.
The Owen Sound “Relay for Life” involved 260 participants who raised $75,228.68.
And the final event at the end of September in Hanover saw 91 cancer survivors being cheered on in the Survivors’ Victory Lap.
They raised almost 94 thousand dollars.
