South Bruce OPP are asking residents in the Kincardine area to be on the lookout for a suspicious man.
Police say they have received two calls in the past two days regarding a man trying to enter a home and test the water.
The Kincardine Public Works department advises that inspections are done by their staff to check Chlorine levels and lead content in the water.
But these inspections are performed during business hours and the municipal staff carry photo ID which they are to show the home owner.
