The first one thousand doses of the non adjuvant H1N1 vaccine has arrived in Grey and Bruce Counties.
The vaccine is only for pregnant women under 20 weeks and other pregnant women who opted to wait for it.
Health Unit Program Manager Denna Leach says this vaccine does not have the adjuvant substance that acts as a ‘booster’ that some woman are concerned about.
Leach says the only way for women to get this vaccine is by making an appointment by calling the health unit offices in Owen Sound or Walkerton.
The non adjuvant vaccine will then be administered next Monday and November 18th in Owen Sound and Friday November 13th in Walkerton.
Leach says the appointment is necessary because they only have a thousand doses and they want to make sure the right women get it.
Leach says pregnant women can also check with their family doctor as some physicians will get the non adjuvant vaccine.
The public health unit is NOT holding an H1N1 clinic today .
However, some doctors are giving out H1N1 shots.
The Kincardine Community Medical Clinic is also holding a clinic today for high priority patients from 1 PM to 4 PM.
