The Ontario Electronic Stewardship is preparing to expand the E-Waste program.
Executive Director Carol Hochu says the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment program will expand next April to include cell phones, cameras, speakers, radios and other electronics.
Currently the program accepts televisions, laptops, desktop computers, printers and fax machines.
Hochu tells Bayshore Broadcasting News about 40 thousand tonnes of electronic waste has been collected and kept out of landfills since the program started in April.
So far, there are two locations in Owen Sound where you can drop off electronic waste — one is at Staples on 10th Street West the other at the Cities transfer station at Miller Waste on the east side.
In Goderich, you can use the Bluewater recycling association, and there are several drop-off sites in Collingwood.
