With less than a month to go — the Festival of Northern Lights organizers are still looking for a few good men.
Chair Doug McKee says while the displays are already going up along the river bank in Owen Sound, they could use a few more people for set up.
He says they usually have up to 20 guys, this year they have less than 10.
McKee says they don’t need electricians — just some muscle.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers for Festival in the Park — an event being held December 27th — gearing up for the Olympic torch relay which heads through the Scenic City the next day.
McKee says that will be a once in a lifetime event and they’ve dedicated five new displays this year to the Olympics.
The city expects to see upwards of 10 thousand visitors for the seven week event.
McKee says they’ll also be doing an economic impact study this year on who they should be targeting in their marketing campaign and how they can improve the spin off for local merchants.
The Festival of Northern Lights kicks off November 20th at 6 PM at the bandshell, with the lights being switched on at 7 PM.
