The 5th annual United Way’s Rotary Children’s Fund Grants have been handed out — fulfilling the wish lists of applicants.
The funds given were raised directly from the Rotary Winterama event – Galaxy’s Cinema’s Starlight Film Festival and the United Way of Bruce Grey Board Fund.
Applicants requested a total of just over 25-thousand dollars in funding – and a total of 21 thousand 6 hundred dollars was raised and dived up to the applicants.
United Way Director Francesca Dobbyn says it is a good day when you can see all the hard fundraising work paying off.

Spokesperson Jackie Ralph from the Canadian Mental Health Association was the the recipient of two separate cheques for two separate initiatives.
The first was to fund The Sunflower Fun Project.
Ralph says the money will go towards helping 17-hundred students grow their own sunflowers in the area to help them learn nurturing.
Ralph also accepted a cheque to go towards a new program – the Let’s Talk Program.
Ralph says the money will pay for healthy snacks for the program that helps teens talk about mental health issues they face in everyday life.
She adds that the CMHA has found that with a little food – many kids relax enough to talk about issues that are bothering them.
Cherie Borho was also on hand from the Bruce Children are Special Foundation.
Borho accepted a cheque that will help fund special requests that come across her desks from children in need.
Borho say the requests can range from dental work – to cribs to even prom dresses.
Borho says this money is important because they still need tomake sure they have funds available for the other campaigns they run such as their christmas hamper program.
