Many Grey Bruce residents want the H1N1 flu vaccine.
Dozens of people lined up at the health unit office in Owen Sound at 7:30 AM this morning to make sure they received the H1N1 vaccine.
By the time the clinic started at 10 AM — hundreds of people were lined up around the outside of the large office building.
The longest wait for the H1N1 shot was almost two hours today.
Many of the people in line were pregnant women or young families with children as well as health care providers and adults with chronic conditions.
Medical Officer of Health Doctor Hazel Lynn says she knew there would be a large turnout after hearing about other clinics across Ontario.
But no one was anticipating the long lineup so early in the day.
There were fears the health unit would run out of the vaccine since there were only two thousand to start the day — but a second shipment arrived over the noon hour.
Doctor Lynn admits they did have to turn some people away because they were already sick or were not on the priority list.
Many of the people in line said they did not wrestle with the question of whether to get the H1N1 vaccine.
One person, Tammy Clark of Owen Sound, says she still did not know even though she was waiting in line.
Linda Campbell of Kincardine says she wrestled with the question but a paramedic told her to get the H1N1 shot for her 21 month old son.
Brenda MacDonald of Wiarton, who is pregnant, says a doctor told her to get the shot.
