Visitor restrictions are now in place at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital in an attempt to reduce the spread of flu.
Hospital officials says they’ve seen a seven percent a day increase in the number of patients coming to the Emergency Department with Influenza Like Illness.
Family physicians offices in the Collingwood area are also seeing a similar increase in patients with flu symptoms.
Effective today — the Collingwood hospital has put in the following restrictions:
– No visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed in the hospital.
– Visitors to Obstetrical patients will be limited to only one labour support person (both during and after delivery) who must be in good health.
– All other hospitalized patients will be allowed only one visitor at a time at the discretion of the primary nurse or healthcare provider.
– Visiting hours (1 PM to 8 PM daily) will be strictly enforced.
