No vacation trips, mini bar tabs or expensive jewelry invoices from Bruce Grey Catholic Board Trustees.
In the wake of the controversial headlines created by some Toronto Catholic School trustees and their unethical expenditures — the local board board has made some amendments to its own Trustee Expenditure policy.
Superintendent of Business Cathy Colton says the School Board has formalized the policy to clearly spell out what trustees can or can not claim as an expenditure.
She says trustee expenditures has never been a problem within the local Catholic Board.
In fact, Colton suspects Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board trustees have one of the lowest expenditure rates in the province.
Trustee expenditures made headline news earlier this year when an audit revealed that some trustees in Toronto spent thousands and thousands of dollars on questionable and prohibitive expenses.
Colton says public perception is reality for many — and that’s why its important the board demonstrate that it is not spending taxpayer money frivolously.
