If your teenager enjoys “take your kid to work day” then they might want to consider entering in a national contest.
The Learning Partnership and Scotiabank have launched the “Ultimate Dream Job” contest.
Students in grade 9 attending publicly funded schools are being asked to submit photos representing their dream job along with a short description of why they think that is their dream job.
President and CEO of the Learning Partnership, Veronica Lacey says they decided to launch the contest because they wanted a special way to celebrate their 15th anniversary of take your kid to work.
The contest runs until tomorrow.
Lacey says the purpose of the contest is to get teenagers to dream about what they want for their future.
She says they are encouraging students in grade 9 to think about what kind of subjects they would like to pursue.
Lacey says their subjects should be based on the reality of the kinds of careers they are beginning to explore.
Each week the 5 best photos are shown online for public voting and at the end of the contest the public will elect a winner from all the weekly winners.
Lacey says the grand prize is fantastic.
One student and their parents/guardians will win a trip to Ottawa to meet Prime Minister Stephen Harper and will get to tour Parliament Hill, The National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Mint and the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
