Men and women will look pretty in pink this weekend for breast cancer awareness month.
“Pretty In Pink” – The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser is being held tomorrow at the CAW Conference Centre in Port Elgin.
One of the organizers Sylvia Sheard says the event is a ladies day out that includes a three course lunch, silent auction, door prizes, a fashion show and more than 20 vendors will be on site.
She says it will be a fun day out but the first priority is to shed more light on breast cancer and why early detection is so important.
Sheard, who is a breast cancer survivor says she is constantly promoting self examinations and mammogram’s especially for women over 50 years old.
The event is sold out – and has been since the beginning of this month.
Sheard is pleased with the support form the community as many businesses have donated money and prizes along with help with a sell out event.
The overall fundraising goal is five thousand dollars and Sheard believes they will hit their target with some bidding on the silent auction items.
“Pretty In Pink” is sponsored by the Port Elgin Lions Club and the Southampton CIBC.
Shannon Snoes from 98 The Beach will be hosting the day long event.
For a five dollar donation you can attend the event after 2:30 PM and shop at the vendors in attendance.
