Organizers of the Go Green at Saugeen Environmental Forum in Port Elgin are not only talking about improving our environment, they’re doing something about it.
Roberta Brignell of Community Foundation Grey Bruce says they’ve made arrangements to have as much e-waste as possible collected on Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM in the parking lot of the CAW Education Centre.
Brignell says ReTronic Recycling Solutions of Orillia will be on site to collect the e-waste, not only from those attending the forum but from the general public as well.
ReTronic spokesperson Brett Belcher says they’ll take pretty well anything with a cord, a battery, motor or circuit board in it.
Belcher says that includes computers, keyboards, scanners, TV’s, cell phones –even small and large appliances and power tools.
Belcher points out that any appliance that had freon in it, must be certified that the freon has been removed.
He says they will not be accepting loose batteries, hazardous waste, cardboard or textiles.
Otherwise, it’s wide open and it’s free.
Belcher says they will recycle the material that can’t be used again and anything they can repair will be re-sold or donated to various non-profit organizations.
The trucks accepting e-waste will be in operation from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday at the CAW Education Centre.
