There are less kids taking to the ice in Saugeen Shores this hockey season.
Registration is down about 20 per cent within the Saugeen Shores Minor Hockey Association.
SSMHA President Len Perdue tells Bayshore Broadcasting News a downturn in the economy is a big factor this year.
He says last year – they had 478 registered – this year – not even four hundred.
Perdue says though, the SSMHA isn’t alone in dealing with lower numbers, other associations he’s spoken to are dealing with the same thing.
He says not all parents could afford it this year, as belt tightening and budgeting comes into play.
The season began October 1st.
