Brockton Council is still looking for answers about engineering work regarding expansion plans for the Hanover – Walkerton Landfill Site.
Several concerns — including allowing buffer zones to be re-zoned for future waste disposal — were raised at a public meeting back in July.
Engineers have since been working on ways the amendment could be changed to ease those concerns.
Mayor Charlie Bagnato says they’ll be meeting with the engineer to get a better idea of what stage things are at.
The zoning change, if approved, would allow for a 4.1 hectare expansion worth six million dollars that would extend the life of the landfill for another 20 years.
Brockton Council will also wait to make a decision on the implementation of clear garbage bags for curbside collection.
Council wants more information on exactly how much money it could save and how much waste it could keep out of the landfill.
Councillor Chris Peabody says they still plan to shift to clear bags, but they want to get the financial details from other municipalities first.
Goderich and West Grey are among the municipalities that have switched to clear bags and Hanover will make the switch in the new year.
Peabody says they need the information in order to present a case to taxpayers for making the change.
