Brockton Council has held off approving a series of new fire department fees.
They cover things like inspections for homes and apartments and response to motor vehicle collisions involving non-Brockton residents.
Fire Chief Michael Rozario was not present at the last Council meeting and councillors want a chance to ask some questions before making a decision.
Councillor Chris Peabody says it’s a by-law to recover fees.
He says firefighters often have to remain at the scene for a long time, and this is a way of generating some of the revenue back to the municipality.
The fees would be collected through insurance companies representing those involved.
Peabody says council wants to compare the new fees with past practices and discuss their impact on people before deciding.
Rozario will be at a future council meeting to answer the questions.
