Things are starting to happen with plans for new sewers in Teeswater and Formosa.
South Bruce Operations Manager Sharon Chambers says they’re going to be doing some environmental investigations and bore-hole testing of areas that might need some work when the digging starts.
She told council they need to be prepared to encounter contaminated soil in the area of old gas stations or garages.
Chambers says the engineering quote allows for five such sites, but there could be as many as 19.
She says geo-technical work will continue in October, the main design will be worked on during the winter, and the project will hopefully go to tender next spring.
Chambers says that means work could start early next summer.
She says there will be three separate contracts — one for installing sewers in each community, and the other for the treatment plants and pumping stations.
