Nearly one million dollars from the Ontario government is going to support the recently established Hanover Veneer mill.
Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell made the announcement yesterday on behalf of Forestry Minister Michael Gravelle.
Mitchell says 191 thousand dollars is a grant — and 765 thousand is a loan guarantee that will allow the company to expand.
She says the management at Hanover Veneer is keeping their eye on the future, and the provincial support will allow them to add 11 more jobs.
When it’s fully operational — the mill will employ 28 people.
The company wants to produce high quality veneer panels, and Mitchell says they see this as a way of expanding the use of lumber.
She says it is finely shaved down for use in doors and windows, and adds they’ll now be able to handle more custom orders too.
Hanover Veneer President Bernie McGlynn says he welcomes the support in helping to get the facility established.
