The Hanover Masons are holding a Child Identification Program this weekend at Hanover Grant’s Your Independent Grocer Store.
127 volunteers have come together to offer this free service to all parents.
Mason Chair and Organizer Don Watch says parents will be given a Ch.I.P kit that will contain dental impressions, fingerprints, a DNA swab, a digital photograph and a video interview of the child.
As a retired police officer, Watch says he knows just how valuable this kit is.
He says the kit will provide police with immediate access to vital information in the event a child goes missing.
This information can be electronically shared with police departments across the country in the matter of seconds.
He adds that the Ch.I.P. program is the only one that is directly connected to the Amber Alert program.
The Ch.I.P. program runs until 7 PM today and again from 9 AM to 3 PM tomorrow.
The program is being put on by the Hanover Masons with the help of the Hanover Police Department and several sponsors.
