Churches, homes, businesses — many will be open for tours during the 2-day Open Doors Kincardine event.
Organizer Jane Rigby says the idea is to get “behind the scenes” to find out what happens in the inner workings of a building that many have seen and perhaps passed everyday.
Rigby says they have 25 places lined up to visit Saturday and Sunday in Kincardine and area and it’s free of charge.
Each place will have a glossy booklet showing all participants along with maps on how to get to each place.
Rigby says one place of real interest will likely be the Anglican Rectory in Bervie.
She says its no longer a rectory but a private home owned by the Stephensons.
Rigby says it was built in 1874 and served the church for 100 years and she says, it has “presences” as well.
Owner Lynn Stephenson says there are four spirits in the home that have made themselves known.
She says things get moved, get knocked over and she and her husband have heard voices.
Stephenson says sometimes the spirits appear.
Doors Open Kincardine runs Saturday and Sunday, generally 10 AM to 4 PM, although some sites have specific hours which can be found in the booklet.
