The new addition to the Davidson Centre in Kincardine is now open.
The multi-use addition to the recreation complex features a meeting room, seniors room, a pool room, and new location for the fitness club that was previously in cramped quarters in the older part of the building.
John Kesteloot of the Kincardine Area Bid Euchre/Shooter Card Club says the 75 members of the club are happy to have a new place to play cards.
The new addition is entirely on the ground level, making it fully accessible.
Kesteloot says there were about 10 people with hip and knee problems who could no longer make it up to their old space on the second floor of the building, but now they’re coming back again.
The Kincardine Seniors Action Committee (KSAC) and Merry Kin seniors organization also use the facility, and any community group is able to rent the space for meetings.
Recreation Director Karen Kieffer says the municipality planned to spend 2.4 million dollars on the 10 thousand square foot expansion, and she believes they’ll stay within that amount.
She adds the word “fantastic” is being used a lot by people to describe the addition and says the health club is a “wow factor.”
