It was a full house for the celebration of the new administration centre for the Bluewater Board of Education.
Trustee Chair Jennifer Yenssen says she couldn’t be happier with the 43 thousand square foot building.
The eight million dollar facility boasts nine meeting rooms and work space for 142 employees.
Yenssen says trustees are committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for everyone in the system including those who work at the education centre.
She notes since amalgamation in 1998, 108 million dollars has been spent building new schools and upgrading and renovating current schools within the School Board.
Yenssen says it was time to replace the old Board of Education office.
She says it’s wonderful to finally be able to house all of Bluewaters administrative and school support staff under one roof.
Parent Involvement Committee Chair Jim Thorpe hopes the new building will usher in a new era of co-operation between the School Board and parents.
He says its time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh moving forward together.
Yenssen agrees and says the Board wants to work closely with parents in a partnership that will benefit all students.
Construction on the two storey board office began in December 2007 and staff moved into the building in March 2009.
The new Board Office not only houses administrative staff, but it also plays host to many staff training and in servicing sessions.
