South Bruce Council will decide tonight if the ward system will continue to exist in the municipality.
Mayor Bill Goetz says two bylaws will be tabled for council to choose.
One would see the two wards totally eliminated by the 2010 election and councillors would be elected at large.
The other would see what Goetz calls a hybrid system of both ward and at large councillors.
There were about 25 people at a public meeting in September, which was not open for public comment.
Goetz thinks there is strong support for council to move to an entirely at-large election.
But having the combination of both could also convince councillors and residents to move to an at-large system later on.
This is South Bruce’s second attempt at changing how council is elected.
A previous by-law to move to at-large representation was overturned by the Ontario Municipal Board.
