Residents along Bruce Beach Road in Huron-Kinloss are concerned about speeding traffic in their neighbourhood.
Bruce Beach Association President Keith MacDonald has gone to council asking for help in the form of temporary speed bumps — the large black rubber ones seen in parking lots and streets in other communities.
However, Mayor Mitch Twolan says road superintendent Hugh Nichol is not supportive of that suggestion.
But other steps will be taken instead.
Twolan says the area will be designated and posted as a Community Safety Zone, which means speeding fines in the area will double.
He says Nichol will also have a couple more speed limit signs put up, which he believes is something council agrees with.
MacDonald says residents want to see the speed of the vehicles “filter down” from where Bruce Beach Road begins at Boiler Beach Road.
He says there is a 40 kilometre per hour limit on the paved part of the road which is being ignored by many drivers, but it isn’t an issue on the gravel portion due to so many potholes.
Extra OPP patrols of the area will also be considered.
