Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch wants a province wide moratorium on wind farms.
The MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound will introduce a resolution at Queens Park at the end of the month that would put a hold on all wind turbine projects in Ontario.
Murdoch wants the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to look into whether wind turbines cause health problems for residents who live near them.
The local MPP feels the government has a responsibility and mandate to look into claims that wind turbines cause sleep deprivation and stress, among other things.
Murdoch says if there is no link between the turbines and a persons’s health — then let the experts state that publicly for all to hear.
Murdoch feels new wind energy projects should proceed only after approval from the province’s medical and environmental experts.
Over 200 people attended two public forums hosted by the Grey Bruce Health Unit in the last week to say their concerns have not been addressed.
The Health Unit has also pushed the Ministry of Health to conduct a comprehensive study on wind farms.
Murdoch expects his resolution to be debated on October 29th.
