Six townhomes are now under construction at the old OSCVI site in downtown Owen Sound.
And Developer Barry Kruisselbrink hopes to get about 10 more built before the end of the year.
The subdivision at 10th Street East and 5th Avenue East will include 49 townhouses, and 11 single-family homes.
Kruisselbrink hopes to have some of the new homeowners in their homes before Christmas — with most of the other homes to be built next year or in 2011 — depending on the economy.
Home prices start at approximately 200 thousand dollars.
The townhomes have two bedrooms plus one in the basement if it is finished, while the single detached homes will have three or four bedrooms.
The new homes will be red brick or have stone cladding, while other features like turrets, large trees, and a sidewalk will also ensure the new subdivision fits in with the surrounding neighbourhood.
Kruisselbrink says the project has been a long time coming, but he feels it is a good fit in the community.
