The wet weather over the weekend didn’t stop people from coming out to enjoy Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin.
The organizers of the 23rd annual event report about 50 thousand people went through the Festival gates on Saturday and Sunday.
Bayshore Broadcasting News asked visitors what they enjoy most about the annual salute to big vegetables and family fun.
One woman says the farmers who grow the giant pumpkins put in a lot of hard work, and another just says they’re pretty big.
One man says it was the first time his family has been to Pumpkinfest, and they had a “hoot” of a time. His son says it’s very cool to see the heavy pumpkins.
Another man says the size of the pumpkins is unbelievable, a woman says she wants to know the secret behind growing them so big, and another man says there’s lots of fun at Pumpkinfest for the kids.
One man says he’s been coming to Pumpkinfest for 10 years and thinks the car show is amazing.
He brings his daughter know and says Pumpkinfest is good family entertainment all around.
A woman says the spider pumpkin she saw being carved is amazing, and another woman says the giant pumpkins are “insane.”
