An event to teach our children to conserve our water resources if going on in Chesley.
The Grey Bruce Children’s Water Festival wraps up today at the Chesley Community Centre.
Event Chair Craig Todd says the event is for all grade four children in the region – separate and public boards are participating as are home-schooled children.
There will be 45 activities for the children to participate in – based on conserving water.
Todd says the reason grade 4’s are the focus is it fits into their school curriculum.
Todd says some of the events include children measuring how much water is wasted while not stopping the water while brushing your teeth.
Kids even get the chance to put a poncho on and step under a shower – measuring the amount of water used from a low-flow shower head.
Todd says the event costs 95-thousand dollars to put on and is funded strictly by donations.
Todd says teachers come away from the all day event with a resource bag holding materials to be used for further study in their classes.
The event has been running all week.
