The host of a long running feature on 560 CFOS has passed away.
Margaret (Peggy) Emptage — the popular host of ” Gardening with Peggy ” –passed away this morning in Owen Sound
Peggy Emptage hosted ” Gardening With Peggy ” on a weekly basis.
The program aired every Saturday Morning beginning in the mid 70’s and running for more than a decade.
The format saw a CFOS announcer, usually Rick Moss, pose wide ranging questions about flowers, gardening and horticultural matters to Emptage who would respond.
Emptage also responded on air to letters and calls from listeners.
Born and raised in Meaford, Emptage moved to Owen Sound in 1939 and resided on 3rd Street ” A ” West.
She was the head of the Owen Sound Horticultural Society for many years.
According to her daughter, Patricia Wootton, Emptage remained an avid gardener, right into the final year of her life, and the Emptage Garden in Owen Sound was often spotlighted in stories and articles regarding gardening.
Peggy Emptage passed away this morning at Summit Place Retirement Community in Owen Sound where she has been residing in the last year.
Funeral arrangements are being made and will be announced when they are finalized.
