Plans are in the works to bring more affordable housing to Collingwood.
A developer, John Fogolin, wants to put in 38 units for seniors in a 3 storey complex at Lockhart Road and Hurontario Street.
Council has decided to apply for funding from both the provincial and federal governments.
Councillor Ian Chadwick says the fund council is applying under provides up to 120 thousand dollars per unit for affordable housing.
The town will also give the developer an annual grant that will cover the extra taxes that will have to be paid for the affordable units compared to the regular residential rate.
Chadwick says if the funding is granted, the approval stage has to be done by the end of December and construction start by the end of next March.
