There is a now a task force to battle the problem of crystal meth use in Bruce County.
Saugeen Shores Mayor and County Councillor Mike Smith will sit on the committee.
Smith says there is no single problem behind the use of the dangerous, illegal drug.
He says they’re currently working on recommendations to provincial ministries on funding and local initiatives to deal with the situation.
Smith says most of the issues with crystal meth are in the southern part of the county.
Bruce County County Social Services Director Terry Sanderson recently met with Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell.
He says they talked about the local task force working groups that are evolving, and how meth use and related crime is a pressing issue that requires solutions.
Sanderson says it’s still early, and the work of the task force and the working groups is just in the “infant” stage.
The working groups haven’t made any recommendations yet, and Sanderson says it will take a few months before anything comes forward.
