A special three day event being held in Owen Sound this coming week.
Its called “The Gathering” and its being organized by the “Restoring the Circle” committee formed last year in response to what happened at “Indian Residential Schools” for more than a 40 year span starting in the 1930’s.
The three day seminar will focus on the effects the residential school incidents had on First Nations and how that’s still being felt today.
Organizer Angela Ashkewe says they’ll be looking at how individuals and families are still suffering but how they can also move on to healing.
Supporting the seminar are the Anglican Church of Canada, The United Way of Bruce Grey and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
It’s being held at the Bayshore Community Centre from Monday to Wednesday.
